Yoga for riders

Why should a rider do any workout at all?

We want our horse to be centered, balanced, energized and focused. But if a dressage or a jumping rider has stiff back and hips, if he/she holds breath and the attention drifts, even the best horse ever will not save the situation. If we work on our bodies, our posture in the saddle will improve and our horse will relax through his back and will be more willing for a cooperation.
 

Why should it be yoga?

Yoga is a perfect way, how to learn to perceive our bodies, to strengthen as well as to stretch it, to gain energy, calmness and focus. Yoga can strengthen the deepest muscles, which we rarely use, but they are crucial for our riding. If we do not strengthen our deepest stabilization muscles, we will overstrain our back, it will hurt and become stiff and our posture will be unpleasant for our horse. Yoga teaches us, how to move in harmony with our breath, healthy breathing improves our lungs capacity, imunity, it connects us to the present moment. We feel more focused as well as relaxed.
 

And why yoga with me?

I myself have been riding since I was twelve, horses are my life long love. Yoga and healthy movement is my life mission. I know, how my body feels after riding, I can sense the muscles which call for strengthening and which ask for stretching, so that my body can stay in harmony. I know, how my breath influences my body and almost instantly feelings and movement of the horse. I admire natural horsemanship, respect to the horse as well as to myself, to my body.

I have prepared a set of exercises, which you can do either before or after riding, at home our outside. I will teach you easy stretching movements, which you may apply directly in the saddle. You will become to know, how to keep a proper posture, how to breathe healthily - which will become useful not only when riding, but with any other sports or even while sitting in your office. I keep on studying continually, and so does my approach becomes enriched by any new experience. Each of us is unique and thus my approach is individual.
